Michael Thomas Ryder

Michael T. “Mitch” Ryder, 66, a resident of Riverwood Rehab in East Moline, IL, received his final reward in the Hour of Mercy, on Friday, January 29, 2016. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2nd, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 412 – 10th Street, Moline, IL, where he was a member. A luncheon will follow to celebrate his life. Burial will be at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Mary’s Church, EWTN, or the Carmelite Sisters in Sioux City, IA. Mike was the second child born to Harold and Marjorie (VanGoethem) Ryder on September 25, 1949. He graduated from Alleman High School in 1967, and excelled in sports and enjoyed math. Mike never married. He worked alongside his friend, Don Grchan, as a concrete finisher, in which he took great pride. Mike liked to fish and hunt or just be outdoors where he was closest to God. Mike suffered much in his life. His final words were “No pain, no gain.” and “I love you!” Those left sad at his passing, are his brothers and sisters, Sue Mehuys, Dan Ryder, and Joe Ryder, of Moline, John Ryder of East Moline, Regina Ryder of Rock Island, Mary Lievens of Sherrard, and Joanne Ryder of Kewanee. Those there to welcome him home are Mom and Dad, and sisters, Sr.M.Immaculata PCPA, Paula Hernstrom, and Marjorie Rasso.
