Melvia Lynn Randles Hubbard, 62, of Rock Island, IL, died Sunday, January 10, 2010, surrounded by family, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehab in Rock Island, due to cancer. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 12th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Wednesday, January 13th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Melvia Lynn Randles was born in Rock Island on February 20, 1947, to Paul E. and Bernadine F. (Williams) Randles. In January of 1968, she married Thomas (Tommy) Hathaway. Later, in Rock Island, on February 14, 1981, in Rock Island, she married John A. Hubbard, Sr, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1996. Melvia worked for many years at Export Pack, Fleetwood Tap, and was a bartender at Len Brown's North Shore Inn in Moline, for 11 years, retiring April 30, 2008. Survivors include: a daughter: Lisa (John) Markey of Chicago, IL; four siblings: Paula (Bill) York of Moline, Juna (Dave) Douglas of Bettendorf, IA, Joe Randles of Coal Valley, IL; and Marie (Gary) Marsh of Kentucky; special "Roomie" John Webb; "the brats" Robin and Tina; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Beverly Sweeney.
