Maynard E Neighbors

Maynard E. Neighbors, 83, of Naperville, IL, formerly of Moline, died Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Spring Meadows Assisted Living in Naperville. Visitation will be Monday, November 28th, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Tuesday, November 29th, at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL, with Military Honors by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Niabi Zoo, Coal Valley, IL, or the Residential Hospice of Naperville, IL. He was born in Grinnell, IA, on April 7, 1933, son of William and Elsie M. (Williams) Neighbors. Maynard served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1953. On October 31, 1959, in Moline, he married Rebecca “Becky” Langill, who survives. Maynard was employed for forty years at Desaulniers Printing Company in Moline and Milan, as a Lithographer, last working in 1996. After retirement, he delivered mail for Black Hawk College in Moline. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline, a life-member of the Willard Velie VFW Post, a life-member of the Corn Belt Running Club, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in Moline. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Patrick Neighbors of Chicago, IL; daughters, Amy (Daniel) Carroll of Aurora, IL, and Kelly (Michael) Flynn of Fort Myers, FL; sisters, Mary Ann Gordon of Davenport, IA, and Irma Jean Brandom of Moline; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandchild.
