Maxine Chinlund

Maxine Chinlund, 91, of Rock Island, IL, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island, on Saturday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church Piano Key Fund. Maxine Downs was born in Savanna, IL, on March 7, 1918, to Charles and Minnie (McKinnon) Downs. On October 1, 1938, in Davenport, IA, she married John A. Chindlund, who preceded her in death in 1979. She was a member and former church elder, at Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, a member of the Sherrard Womens' Club, and a 50-Year Member of the Eastern Star in Moline. Maxine was a Genesis East volunteer for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, and the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: son-in-law, Kenneth Collinson of Rock Island; a granddaughter, Lisa (Tom) Gannon of Waukesha, WI; a grandson, Scott (Stacy) Collinson of Davenport; a grandson, Peter Collinson of Coyne Center, IL; a niece, Barbara (Gary) Wynn of Washington, IL; a nephew, Charles Downs of Rock Island; and a niece, Vickie Waite of East Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Jacqueline Collinson, her parents, and three brothers.
