Maurine S. Anderson, 83, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at her home. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 18th, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with the reading of the Rosary at 7:00, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Thursday, June 19th, at 10:30 am, at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Maurine S VanGoethem was born in East Moline, IL, on June 1, 1931, to Alfons and Lena (Donis) VanGoethem. On January 23, 1954, in East Moline, she married Irving “Zeke” Anderson, who survives. She graduated with the Moline High School Class of 1949, and was a majorette while in high school. She was a secretary at the former International Harvester East Moline Works, and also worked as a waitress for many years at the American Legion, and became the bookkeeper there. She also worked at Time Out, and at JGatsby’s in Moline. She was past-president of the Women’s Auxiliary at the American Legion, and enjoyed spending many hours helping people and organizations. Survivors include, her husband, Zeke Anderson of Moline; son, Irving (Becki) Anderson of Taylor Ridge, IL; grandchildren: Taylor Anderson and Reese Anderson; sisters: Mary McCulley of East Moline, Shirley Schneekloth and Sue Hafner, both of Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
