Mary V Ruelas

Mary V. Ruelas, 84, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at her home. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 1st, at 4:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 5:30 pm, and a meal at 6:00 pm, at First Christian Church, 1826 – 16th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, or to the Bauer family via First Christian Church of Moline. Mary was born November 11, 1930, and raised in upstate New York. At 19, she met the love of her life, Luis Ruelas II, who spent time in New York while he was on his way to be stationed in Germany for the U.S. Air Force. After they were married in 1949, they moved to Southern California, where he was born, and they lived and raised four children in San Clemente, CA, and the surrounding area. Mary lived in California for 59 years before moving to Moline to be near her youngest daughter. Mary was an extremely compassionate, caring person who devoted her life to her family, both in New York and California, and was a humanitarian extraordinaire. Her biggest love in her life, were children. She not only loved her own children deeply, but all children, and contributed greatly to the many she worked with, and whose lives she touched with love throughout the years. Mary is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Ruelas of Menifee, CA; her twins, Cecelia (Scott) Ruelas-Bauer of Moline, and Louis Ruelas III of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Richard (Deanna) Clausen of Glendale, AZ, and Bradley and Brandon Bauer, both of Moline; and many extended family and friends in California and New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elenor Cicero-Ragonisi and Samuel Ragonisi; her husband, Luis Ruelas II (in 1987), and her oldest daughter, Lorraine Ruelas (in 1999).
