Mary Ruth Olmstead

Mary Ruth Olmstead, 95, formerly of Rock Island, IL, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at The Lighthouse in Silvis, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, May 26th, from 1:30 a.m. until 4:30 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Tuesday, May 28th, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Quad Cities Christian School. Mary Ruth James was born in Brownlee, NE, on February 17, 1918, to Jenny and Lewis James. On June 6, 1943, in Rock Island, she married Carl M. Olmstead, who preceded her in death June 6, 2005. She was a member of the New Hope/Moline Gospel Temple Church, and enjoyed being a homemaker, and raising her children. Survivors include, daughter: Carolyn (Ron) Mundt of Moline; sons: Charles (Joni) Olmstead of Seattle, WA, Paul (Becki) Olmstead of Dallas, TX, and Bill Olmstead of Rock Island; ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a brother.
