Mary Lou Greene, 98, of Moline, IL, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL. Services will be Thursday, August 31st, at 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church, 1826 – 16th Street, Moline with a one-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. She will be buried at Rock Island National Cemetery with her husband. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice Care or Hope Creek Memory Care. Mary Lou was born in the home of her parents, Gust and Carrie Carlson on August 16, 1919. She married her nearly life-long sweetheart, Earl L. Greene, on October 10, 1941. Earl died March 10, 1987. After Mary Lou’s mother died in 1938, she and Earl cared for her father until he died in 1971. Earl and Mary bore three children, David, Douglas, and Beth Ann. Mary was a seamstress for thirteen years at Mosenfelders Men’s Wear in Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Moline. She was a life-long member of First Christian Church in Moline, Group 3, CYF, Tuesday Diners, a 50-year member of the Golden Circle Club of the church, and a past member of Vikings Cara Lodge. She also was a member of the Four Forties Club, the Telephone Pioneers, the County Home Extension, and she was a Charter Member of Sylvia Bannon King’s Daughter’s. Survivors include her son, David (Marilyn) Greene of Omaha, NE; her daughter, Beth Ann Fredrickson of East Moline; daughter-in-law, Unna Greene of Milan, IL; grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley) Greene of Arab, AL, Michael Greene of Omaha, NE, Laura Greene of Milan, IL, and Ivan Dull of Leclaire, IA; a nephew, Robert Carlson of Andalusia, IA; and a special friend, Zita Vroman. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Earl, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Greene, a brother, Bob Carlson, and a son-in-law, Bob Fredrickson.
