Mary L Olson

Mary L. Olson, 87, of Moline, IL, formerly of Rock Island, IL, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4th, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline.  Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 5 th , at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery in Joy, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Mary Gustafson was born May 19, 1930, in Joy, IL, daughter of Edward and Margaret (Baker) Gustafson.  On April 10, 1949, she married Rolyn W. Olson, who preceded her in death January 31, 2017. She was a member of the Millwrights Local Union #2158 Retirement Club, and, with her husband, was active in the International Harvester Antique Tractor Association.  She enjoyed helping Ron work on his collection of old tractors.  However, she had her own collection of Cow memorabilia.  She loved cooking, and was never was a stranger to anyone. She was known for her incredible wit and humor.  Mary especially adored being the neighborhood grandmother to all the kids. Survivors include her son, David (Heidi) Olson, and her daughter, Margaret Rosanne Moreland, all of Rock Island; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and three brothers.
