Mary L Nelson

Mary L. Nelson, 81, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Tampa, FL, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside committal services will be held Friday, June 6th, at 1:00 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Kewanee, IL. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home of Moline. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation Midwest Office, 833 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607. Mary L. Nelson was born in Kewanee, IL, on May 7, 1933, to James and Annie (Jackson) Nelson. She graduated from Kewanee High School with the Class of 1950. From 1953 until 1979, she lived in Chicago, and then re-located to Florida until 2006. While in Florida, she was an accountant for United Technology/Sunbeam for 27 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. Survivors include: a sister, Margaret McRae of Moline, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: James, Glen, and William Nelson, and two sisters: Edith Johnson and Betty Nelson. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hope Creek for the wonderful care given to Mary.
