Mary (Schneekloth) Sandler, a loving, thoughtful, and generous woman, was born on December 31, 1933, in Moline, IL, to Henry and Mildred Schneekloth. She passed away peacefully on September 15, 2023, in Cordova, IL, leaving a legacy of love, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
Mary married the love of her life, Duane Sandler, on December 28, 1952. Together, they cherished their daughter, Stacey (Chris) Dunn, born on June 28, 1966, who was and remains the love of their lives. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane, who passed away on September 22, 2012. She was also predeceased by her parents, Duane's parents, Irvine and Edith Sandler; brothers Carl and Dennis Schneekloth and their wives Linda and Stella; sister Joan Canfield, her brother-in-law Lee Sandler, and her Aunt and Uncle, Ray and Ann Sayer, who were like second parents to her. In addition to her daughter Stacey (Chris) Dunn, she is survived by a brother-in-law, Gary Canfield; sister-in-law, Shirley Sandler, and her best friend, Jane Dunn.
Mary was a proud John Deere Junior High and Moline High School graduate, where she served as a majorette, bringing spirit and energy to both schools.
Mary's life was characterized by her love for her family, particularly her cherished time with her daughter. Their car rides, casino visits, laughter, and hugs were the highlight of her life. Her daughter was her everything, and their bond was evident to all who knew them. Mary's love for her daughter was a testament to her selfless nature and the depth of her affection.
Mary was an East End Club member and a Hope Partner at St. Jude. Her community involvement reflected her generous spirit and her commitment to making a positive impact on those around her. Her thoughtful gestures and acts of kindness will be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Mary's life was a testament to her loving, thoughtful, and generous nature. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and all who knew her. Mary (Schneekloth) Sandler will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the lives she touched.
Mary's funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. A visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Wendt Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and online condolences can be shared at wendtfuneralhome.com.
