Mary J. Elliott, 72, of Moline, IL, died at her home on Sunday, August 30, 2015. Services will be Friday, September 4th, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Visitation is 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with the Memorial Service following at 5:00 pm. Per her wishes, she will be cremated with a private inurnment service. There will be a funeral luncheon for a celebration of her life, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1724 – 15th Street, Moline, following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Mary was born in Geneseo, IL, on September 14, 1942, to Howard Leon and Anna Marie (Howarth) Magruder. On February 6, 1960, in Moline, she married Roger D. Elliott, who preceded her in death in July of this year. After graduating high school, Mary was employed for twenty years at Miller Container, and fifteen years at the former Service Rubber Company. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Donna A. (Allen) Guss, and Sharon K. Elliott, all of Moline; three grandchildren, Brittany (Chad Parr) Clenney, Michelle (Danny Adams) Clenney, Kelsey (Donavan Johnson) Clenney; three great-grandchildren, C.J., Kaylee, and Ethan Parr, and expecting a 4th, Riley Johnson; a brother, George Magruder of Peoria, AZ; three sisters, Ruth Wells of New Windsor, IL, Katherine Johnson of Milan, IL, and Pat Duffer of Rock island, IL; several nieces; and a special friend, Kathy Kirkpatrick. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and a brother, Donald Howarth.
