Mary Helen Gunnerson

Mary H. Gunnerson, 87, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at her home in Moline, IL. Per her wishes, the body will be cremated. There will be a Visitation on Sunday, April 27th, at the Viking Club, 1450 - 41st Street, Moline, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2600 - 72nd Street, Suite 0, Urbandale, IA 50322. Mary Helen Newton was born in Concord, NC, on January 15, 1927, to John and Mary (Deering) Newton. In Moline, she married Arthur Gunnerson, who preceded her in death. Mary was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, the Viking Club, and American Legion, the V.F.W. Club, and the Svithoid Club, all in Moline. She enjoyed traveling, and took many cruises. Survivors include, daughters: Brenda Uskavich of St.Petersburg, FL, Connie Smith of Moline, and Teresa Inskeep of Sarasota, FL; sons: John Gunnerson, and Stan Gunnerson, both of Moline; sister: Ruby Savastano of New Jersey; brother: J. B. Newton of North Carolina; grandchildren: Jennifer Inskeep and Ryan Inskeep, both of Sarasota, FL, Mike Lykam of St.Augustine, FL, and Stephanie Wicall of Moline; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by, a sister, Betty Lovell; brothers, Ike Newton and Albert Newton; and her companion, Paul Swanson.
