Mary Elizabeth Johnson

A private ceremony will be held for Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Johnson, 93, of Moline, IL, who passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Illini Restorative Care in Silvis, IL. She was born Mary Elizabeth Thompson on May 2, 1919, in Orion, IL. She worked at Modern Woodmen in Rock Island, IL, where she met and married Guy E. Johnson in 1942.They were married nearly sixty years when he passed away in 2001. They loved Hawaii and vacationed there eighteen years straight. She attended the First United Presbyterian Church in Moline, IL. She loved her family, kitty cats, and as a life-long Cubs fan, she finally got to see them win the World Series. She was a horrible driver, and the family often joked that, “Grandma crashed the car.” She is survived by her son, Jay (Marcia) Johnson, her daughter, Jill Clearman; three grandchildren, Caressa Clearman, Julia Clearman, and Bret Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Emmett, and Garrett.
