Mary E. “Betty” Garner, 95, of Moline, IL, died Friday, February 7, 2020, at UnityPoint Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Monday, February 10 th , from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 11 th , at 10:00 a.m., with burial at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Moline Public Library Foundation. Mary Elizabeth Christensen was born in Fairfield, IA, on April 6, 1924, to Arthur X and Blanche (Starr) Christensen.  On September 25, 1949, in Davenport, IA, she married Richard F. Garner, who preceded her in death March 21, 1980. Betty graduated with the Davenport High School Class of 1942, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA, with the Class of 1947.  She worked at the Moline Public Library from 1975 until 1994. She volunteered for 25 years with APRIS, the Augustana Public Radio Information Service, and at Trinity West surgical waiting in Rock Island.  Betty had a life-long love for the written word. Survivors include daughters, Carol Garner, and Nancy (James) Ebert, all of St. Paul, MN; sons, Jim (Jenny) Garner of Sherrard, IL, and David (Jill Seaholm) Garner of Rock Island, IL; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ebert. In addition to her parents and her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Christensen in 1924, and James Christensen in 2010.
