Mary Clarissa Bristow, age 86, formerly of Centerville, IA. died on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA. Mary Clarissa Adams was born on September 9, 1919, to Homer and Mamie (Harbold) Adams in Plano, IA. On April 7, 1940, in Centerville, IA, she married Arthur H. Bristow, who preceded her in death November 23, 1978. She attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She was employed as a Postmaster for U.S. Postal Department at Plano, IA, for 30 years, retiring in 1982. Clarissa was a member of Plano Christian Church, Plano, IA; the O.D.O. Club; the P.E.O. Chapter; and the Seymour Club. She enjoyed bird watching, knitting, sewing, and playing cards. Services will be held Monday, April 30, 2007, at 10:30 am, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, IA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29th, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery in Plano, IA. Memorials may be given to Little Flock Chapel in Plano, IA, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Survivors include: a daughter: Ruth Ann Pister of Moline, IL.; a son: Don (Candace) Bristow of Columbia, MO.; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents, a daughter: Maribeth Sheets, a sister: Ruth Hodson;, and a brother: John Adams.
