Mary Alice Weissmann

Mary Alice Weissmann, of Moline, IL. passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Mary Alice Nisbet was born to James and Mary (Woods) Nisbet in Raeford, NC. She married Dr. Carl John Weissmann on September 5, 1942, in Staten Island, NY. He preceded her in death April 29, 1996. Alice graduated from High Point High School (now Centennial H.S.) in North Carolina, and from High Point University. She attended graduate school at Columbia University in New York. She was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church in Moline, the Elizabeth Jane Breshear Circle of Kings Daughters, and the Rock Island County Medical Society Auxillary. Alice was an avid tennis player, and was well known for her culinary skills. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007, at 2 :00 P.M. at First Congregational Church in Moline. Following the service, the family will greet friends. Arrangements are being handled by the Wendt Funeral Home of Moline. Memorials may be made to Bethany For Children and Families or to First Congregational Church of Moline. Survivors include, daughters: Mary (Dr. James) McCarthy of Earlysville, VA; Carol (J.Stephen) Acord of Champaign, IL, and Cynthia (Dr. Robert) Parker of Naperville, IL; grandchildren: Miles, Alexander, Andrew, Reid, John, Peter, Margaret, James, and Sarah, and great-grandson, James. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Irma Nisbet Geddie, and two brothers, James Leland Nisbet and William Preston Nisbet.
