Marshall Alan Ackerland, a loving father, beloved son, and cherished brother, passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2023, in Moline, IL. Born on August 17, 1977, in Moline, to Greg and Barbara (Niner) Ackerland. Marshall left a lasting impact on all the people in his life and will be greatly missed.
Marshall was adventurous in every aspect of his life. He kept a positive outlook on life and wanted those around him to be happy. He had a great sense of humor, and his laugh would always light up the room. He could spend countless hours in nature caring for trees, plants, and animals. He also loved to travel, meet new people, and listen to music everywhere he went. Marshall was a kind and generous soul who was wise beyond his years when giving advice to his friends and family. Even if he was having a hard time himself, he always had some prophetic wisdom to share.
Marshall loved his family dearly, especially his daughter, Tessa. He was the oldest of four boys and looked out for and helped his three younger brothers whenever he could. He was loved by his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Marshall is survived by his parents, Greg and Barbara Ackerland; his beloved daughter, Tessa Ackerland of Colorado Springs, CO; his brothers, Jay (Tracey) Ackerland of WA, Austin (Katie) Ackerland of East Moline, Troy Ackerland of East Moline. He also leaves behind his grandmothers, Pearl Johnston and Sally Niner; several aunts and uncles, including Brenda Atwood, Dennis Wendt, Charles Wendt, Daniel Niner, Troy Niner, Larry Niner, Pam Niner, Kim Brown, Suzanne Niner, Scott Ackerland, Brett Ackerland, and Matt Johnston; nephews and nieces Josh, Emmalee, Kevin, Dylan, and Morgan Ackerland; his former wife Anne Weatherington. Marshall will also be missed by his many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harlan Ackerland, Gladys Taylor, Robert Niner, and his uncle, Stevie Niner.
Marshall’s legacy will continue to live on through his family.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a service will be held at a later date.
