Mark Lee Stevens

April 9, 1954 — July 1, 2024

Mark Lee Stevens, a lifelong resident of Moline, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, at Illini Hospital in Silvis, Illinois, with his family by his side. Born on April 9, 1954, in Moline, Illinois, Mark's life was marked by laughter and devotion to his family. At the age of 70, he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be celebrated by his family.

His life will be honored at Hope United Church of Christ in Moline on Saturday, July 6. A visitation will begin at 11, followed by an informal and casual Celebration of Life at 12.

Mark was the beloved husband of Nancy Lyons Stevens, with whom he shared a life full of joy and partnership for 48 years. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Brittney Stevens Wells, and her husband, Steve Wells, and his son, his best friend, Thomas Mark Stevens. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Sue Stevens of Colona, IL. Mark's warmth extended to his many aunts and cousins, and his dearly loved nieces and nephews, who will miss his humor and guidance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane Knaack Stevens and William Stevens, and his grandparents, who instilled in him the values of family and hard work.

A proud graduate of Moline High School, class of 1972. His professional journey began at American Air Filter and was followed by dedicated service at Swiss Valley Farms Dairy and then Prairie Farms Dairy. From his early years until his retirement, Mark was a proud and active member of the International Teamsters Union for 30 years.

Mark's love for sports was an integral part of his life. He was a very loyal fan of the Fighting Illini, the Moline Maroons, the Chicago White Sox, and the Chicago Bears. No matter if his teams were losing, he would still watch the games with his son, Tom.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Mark would describe him as funny, loving, and kind. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a remarkable ability to uplift others with his wit and laughter. Mark's loving nature was evident in the way he offered emotional support to his family, always putting their needs before his own.

The Stevens family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Illini Hospital for their compassionate care during Mark's final day. Their kindness and professionalism were a comfort to Mark and his loved ones during a difficult time.
