Marjorie Possin, 93, of Davenport, IA, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011, at The Postillion in Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3rd, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Friday, March 4th, at 10:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1330 - 13th Street, Moline. Burial will take place at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to The Postillion, Davenport, IA, to the Alzheimers Association, or to Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, IL. Marjorie H. Smith was born in Moline on February 14, 1918, to Alfred E and Lilas (Sayre) Smith. She graduated from Moline High School in 1936, and the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. She was employed by the hospital upon graduation for 1-1/2 years, and then moved to Chicago where she met Herbert W. Possin. They married on July 4, 1942, in Rock Island. Mr. Possin left for the Army, and after his discharge, they returned to Chicago. Several years later, they came back to Moline, and Mrs. Possin returned to employment at Moline Public Hospital, where she retired in 1982 as Head Nurse on the Postpartum Floor. She was a 55-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, a member of Moline Public Hospital Retirees, a Southpark Mall walker, and a member of Hiland Park Bowl Pillpushers League. She loved to crochet and work crossword puzzles. She is survived by daughter Judy (Ron) Blad of Moline, and son Marc (Mary) of Geneseo. Her grandchildren are Kent (Veronica) Blad of Rock Island, Jeff (Aran) Reddig of Colona, Brian (Christine) Blad of Elburn, IL, Regan (Brian) Wellner of Moline, Simon (Kristi) Possin of Colona, Gabriel Possin, Adam (Maria) Possin of Geneseo, and James, Michael, and Clare Possin of Geneseo. Great-grandchildren include Stephanie Blad and fiance Donte Farrow, Tiffany Blad and fiance Chris Foley, Evan and Vaughn Blad, Jena Reddig, David, Rory, and Christian Wellner, Madeline, Braeden, Landry and Aleksie Possin, and Kendall and Lyla Possin. Step-great-grandchildren are Nathan Schmalenbach, and John and James Warner. Her great-great-grandchildren are Terrance Russell and Keyonte Farrow. She is also survived by nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966, her parents, three brothers, one sister, and a daughter: Barbara Possin Reddig. The family would like to thank Sharon, Sandy, Sheena, Liz, Jenny, and owners, Alan and Susan, of The Postillion in Davenport, for the warm, loving, and compassionate care given to their loved one for nearly three years.
