Margie Davis, 93, of Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Visitation will be Monday, July 14th, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Tuesday, July 15th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County animal Care & Control. Margie Eileen Harger was born in Benton County, IA, on January 19, 1921, to Homer and Gladys (Ferguson) Harger. She married Doyle A. Davis in 1946; the marriage ended in divorce in 1949. Margie’s family moved several times before settling in Moline in 1932. She attended Moline High School, graduating in 1939. She worked for three years in a law office. Then, after WWII, Margie began working at John Deere & Company, retiring after 39 years, in 1982, as an executive secretary. Margie enjoyed participating in several sports, including golf, bowling, and ice skating. She especially enjoyed gardening. She was active in business girls’ clubs and social sororities. After retirement, she enjoyed playing bridge, research family genealogy, and helping to raise her three granddaughters. Survivors include: daughter Vicki Davis Butler of Moline; granddaughters: Dawn (Howard) Huston of East Moline, Lisa (Chris) Ditsworth of Moline, and Robyn (Justin) Martin of Moline; great-grandchildren: Ashley (Patrick) Fontillas, Megan Cruz, Kayla Ditsworth, Aaron Ditsworth, Bailey Butler, Jordan Butler, Taryn Martin, and Paige Martin; and great-great-grandchildren: Madison Ditsworth and Isabella Huston. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Mardene, and sisters Leone and Leola.
