Margarett May Burney

Margarett Burney, 95, of Beaver Dam, WI, formerly of Silvis, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at her home with her daughter at her side. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 11th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Monday, March 12th at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home, with burial at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Hillside Home Care & Hospice in Beaver Dam, WI. Margarett May Nail was born March 28, 1922, in Wichita Falls, TX, to Edward D. and Della May (McCormick) Nail. On September 15, 1945, in San Antonio, TX, she married Clifford O’Dell Burney, who preceded her in death November 25, 1985. She was employed by the F W Means Company in Moline, and then retired from Moline Lutheran Hospital. She was a member of the former Moline Gospel Temple, and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Margarett spent most of her life being a mother and grandmother, jobs that she adored. Survivors include: children, Ray (Sharyl) O’Neal of Davenport, IA, Marvin O’Neal of Austin, TX, Judith (Brad) Gosse of Beaver Dam, WI, Earl (Paula) Burney of West Springfield, MA, Carl (Kathleen) Burney of Silvis, IL, and James (Christine) Burney of Bettendorf, IA; thirty-two grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Patsy Lou Costello, and a son, Jimmy Burney.
