Margaret R Erickson,94, passed peacefully on August 26, 2020. She lived a quiet life and was best at expressing her love through acts of kindness, often involving a home-made pie. She opened her home to children and grandchildren who needed a place of comfort. She always wanted to know what she should cook for visitors. Her out-of-state children would always say "we can go to Maid Rite or Adolph's or Harris, maybe Hafner’s, then Country Style and Whitey's, or any restaurant you want." She would then have your favorite pie and meal ready when you arrived.
She met her husband, Kermit, at a ‘Dime a Dance’ in San Diego while he was on shore leave with the Navy, and the rest is history. They both loved to dance and listen to music and did so often around the house. Survivors include the 6 children she raised, Don (Sharon), Bob (Sue), Bruce (Jan), Deb (Dave), Barb and Jake; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She grew up in Sanderson, TX, with two sisters and a brother who preceded her in death. Also waiting to meet her on the other side, is Kermit and her grandson, Joshua. "There I will know the joy of solitude...though I'll never be alone. I'll be embraced by all the family and friends I've ever known." (Warren Hanson).
Graveside services will be held in the Chapel at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon gathering will follow at TPC Deere Run in East Moline, and will include pie.
