He was raised in Waverly, and later moved to the Quad-City area, eventualy settling in Milan. He was the owner of Deatherage Trucking Company, from which he retired in 2007. He was proud of his time serving his country in the Air Force, and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. The community of Waverly always held a special spot in his life. Even when ill, he never missed the annual Waverly Alumni Banquet or the Waverly Picnic. He worked hard to guarantee a good attendance at both events. Survivors include: two brothers, Howard Deatherage of Jacksonville, IL, and Earl Deatherage of Waverly, IL; many nieces and nephews; special friends: Tracy and Cathie Best and their sons, Tyler, Ryan, and Christopher; and Tim Bell, all of Moline; and his dog, Tina, from whom Lyn received much enjoyment during the past year.
