Lyle W Swanson

Lyle Swanson, 86, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Aspen Health Care in Silvis, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 21st, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Wednesday, July 22nd, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Lyle W. Swanson was born in Missouri on March 3, 1923, to Charles and Pearl (Logston) Swanson. In 1963, he married Helen L. Hillyer, who preceded him in death July 20, 2007. He was employed by the City of Moline, retiring after 15 years in 1985. He was a member of AFSCME Sub-Chapter 0094. He enjoyed fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals, watching wrestling, and loved spending time with his family. Survivors include: three daughters: Cindy (Scott) Hollenback, and Sue Peterson, both of Moline, and Tudy (Gary) Stoneberger of Geneseo, IL; two sons: Lyle "Bill" (Sug) Swanson, Jr of Vine Grove, KY, and Harold "Bud" (Nadine) Ford of Springfield, IL; a sister: Ilene Miller of Dupo, IL; a brother: Charles (Wilma) Swanson of Kirksville, MO; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother, Herb Swanson.
