Lori L. Brown, 57, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, after a hard fought battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at home in Moline, IL. Visitation services will be Tuesday, September 6th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 7th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Moline. Lori Bowling was born in Moline, IL, on September 30, 1958, daughter to Robert and Karen Bowling. On September 19, 1992, she married the love of her life, Gerald Brown, in Moline. Lori was employed for thirty years as a nurse. She was employed at Cardiovascular Medicine P.C. (CVM) as a clinical supervisor. It gave Lori great joy to be a nurse, to help others, and be a part of the CVM family. Lori was a member of the American Legion Post 246 Auxiliary. Lori loved antiquing with her family and friends and decorating for the holidays. She also loved going to country music concerts with her daughter, watching her beloved grandchildren play sports, vacationing with her husband, spending time with her son, planting flowers, being a member of the 8 + 1 club, and being part of a large close-knit family. Anyone who knew Lori knew that her genuine kindness and acceptance of others was infectious. She was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back if someone else needed it more. Her laugh and smile were contagious and she lived each day to the fullest. She faced hard times with grace and strength. She was truly a role model to all. In addition to her husband and parents, survivors include, daughter, Tara Willard, son, Mark Willard and his fiancée, Tiffany Zimmerman, all of Moline; grandchildren Madisen and Mya Willard; sister Diane Raschke of East Moline; brothers, Robert Bowling of Moline, and Daniel Bowling of East Moline; along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Porubcin and his staff at UnityPoint Health Cancer Center, and Dr. Silverman and her staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, along with the many nurses, medical assistants, and staff on the adult bone marrow and stem cell transplant unit at U of I who took amazing care of Lori. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
