Lonnie Eugene Griffin

Lonnie Eugene Griffin, 66, of Andover, IL, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2015 after a brief illness. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in his name to a charity of the donor’s choice. Lonnie was born December 17, 1948, in Bartonville, IL, to Lloyd and Alice Griffin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. On March 27, 1971, he married the love of his life, Christine Marie Styx, who survives. Lonnie retired in 2005, after many years at the Rock Island Arsenal. Lonnie lived life on his terms and wore many hats besides loving husband and father. He was an avid collector of many items over the years, a rock hound, a wood and metal sculptor, a carpenter, and a landscaper. He always had a project started. Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife, Christine; his children and their spouses, Lance and Marla Griffin of San Antonio, TX, and Brandy and Mike Hays of Aledo, IL; grandchildren Matt (Sami), Jordan, Brighton, Ella, and Liam; and his first great-grandson, Michael; and three brothers and three sisters. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Unity Point Hospice staff for the wonderful care given to our family.
