Lola Joan Czupka, 89, of East Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 4 th , at 11:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2810 – 5 th Avenue, Rock Island, IL.  Friends may then pay respects to the family at Park Vista Retirement Village, 1451 – 20 th Avenue, East Moline, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Inurnment will take place in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, on Monday, August 6 th , at 2:00 p.m.  Those wishing to be included in the procession to the cemetery should be at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline no later than 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the Alzheimers Association. Lola Joan Wiley was born in Montrose, SD, on June 26, 1929.  On October 25, 1947, she married Robert Koehn, who preceded her in death in September of 2006.   She married Giles Czupka on August 19, 1987.  During her lifetime, Lola loved helping people, such as volunteering at the Catholic Worker House in Davenport, IA.  In 1980, she and her family sponsored the Duong family of nine Chinese, who were refugees from Vietnam, and all have remained close friends.  Lola was a member of the D.A.R., and enjoyed genealogy, cooking, and playing Duplicate Bridge.  After raising her children, Lola was a companion for an elderly woman in Chicago, traveling yearly with her to Switzerland in first class accommodations.  After marrying Giles in Clearwater, FL, the couple loved strolling on the beaches together.  Eventually, they returned to East Moline, IL, to enjoy spending time with their family. In addition to her husband, Giles, survivors include two daughters, Michelle “Shelly” Fox of Gainesville, FL, and Roxanne (Steven) Peterson of Coal Valley, IL; two sons, Terry (Judy) Kane of Oceanside, CA, and Daniel (Norma) Koehn of Cedar Rapids, IA; two step-sons, Tim (Lisa) Czupka of North Carolina, and Dan (Robin) Czupka of Virginia; a brother, Lee Lane of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Jason Koehn, Andrew Begyn, Karen Fox, Abby Koehn, Ryan Fox, and John Koehn; and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, a brother, three sisters, and two grandchildren, Kari Lynn Koehn and Blair Begyn.
