Lola D. O'Brien, 82, of Port Byron, IL, died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at East Moline Nursing & Rehab Center in East Moline, IL. No services will be held. Wendt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, 3910 - 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Lola Darlene Nolan was born in Des Moines, IA, on June 29, 1930, to James and Flossie (Huggins) Nolan. On July 26, 1947, in Des Moines, she married Edward H. O'Brien, who preceded her in death October 21, 1982. Lola and her husband moved to the Quad-Cities in 1966. She was a wife, a mother, and a homemaker, whose husband and children were her life. In her later years she worked for G.N.C. in South Park Mall, and for Bishop's Cafeteria, also in SouthPark Mall. Survivors include, daughters: Pamela (Leo) Fitch of Port Byron, Sheila (Jim) Kent of Moline, and Gwen Corey of East Moline; sons: Chris O'Brien of Moline, and Michael (Teri) O'Brien of Des Moines, IA; a sister, Helen Porter of Arkansas; a brother, Jimmie Nolan of Des Moines; grandchildren: Gretchen, Kayla, Cody, Bryce, Cole, and Faith; and great-grandchildren: Keon and Alayna. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Marie Purcell.
