Lloyd Herbert Efflandt

Lloyd Herbert Efflandt, age 83, of Moline, IL. died on Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center Terrace Park in Bettendorf, IA. Lloyd Herbert Efflandt was born on October 28, 1923, to Herbert and Martha (Felt) Efflandt in Moline, IL. He attended Moline schools, received a B.S. from Oklahoma University, and a Master's Degree from Florida Institute of Technology. He married Roberta Ellison in 1946, and later married Dorothy Lindberg in 1986. Lloyd retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army with over 30 years of service spanning both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as an Administrative Officer. He was a member of the Viking Club of Moline, the Moline VFW, and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was a member of the Rock Island County Historical Society, the Illinois State Historical Society, the Titleist Golf Group, the Friends of Moline Library, the Reserve Officers Association, and the Association of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and served on the Congregational Council. He was an author with three books published, and an actor, making several appearances around the Quad Cities. Lloyd was also a devoted Cubs fan. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27th, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island with Military Rites provided by American Legion Post #246 of Moline. Memorials may be made to Friends of Moline Public Library or to Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Survivors include: one son: Alan (Barbara) Efflandt of Hampton, IL; two daughters: Nancy (Gary) Ingelson of Moline, IL., and Laurie Weis of Bancroft, SD; two brothers: Dale Efflandt of Georgetown, TX., and Ralph Efflandt of Moline, IL.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents.
