Linda S. Grooms, 63, of Silvis, IL, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, surrounded by family. Visitation will be Monday, April 30th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Tuesday, May 1st, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Rock Solid Truth. Linda was such a special wife, friend, mother, grandma, and great-grandma to all that were so blessed to know her. Her thoughtful acts of kindness, generosity, and love, have left a multitude of people that deeply love and miss her. Linda S. Chavez was born in Davenport, IA, on August 8, 1948, to Jose and Elma Chavez. She attended school at Our Lady of Lourdes in Davenport, IA. On August 14, 1971, in Davenport, she was married to her soul mate, Pastor Donald K. Grooms, who survives. She was a devoted wife to Donald for 40 years. Family was very important to Linda. She gave countless hugs, kisses, and "I Love You"s every day, all day. She was a member of Rock Solid Truth, and a leader of a Woman's Fellowship for Abundant Life Church of God. She loved the Lord, and now has the most cherished reward for which any Christian can hope, for now Linda is in Heaven with God. She enjoyed reading, sitting outside, the river, her pets, and her many life-long friends. She loved the time spent with her family, especially her youngest, Mia, her grandbabies, and her great-grandbaby. Those left to honor her memory include: her husband, Donald; her daughters, Dondra Lueth of Silvis, IL, Donai Scarff of Coal Valley, IL, and Mia McKenna Grooms of Silvis; sisters, Patricia Odom of Walcott, IA, and Rita (Dale) Hesser of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Joe Chavez of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren: Brittany Lueth, Chelsey Grooms, Chuck Lueth IV, Adam Lueth, Austin Scarff, and Dakota Grooms; great-grandchild: Yoni Candela; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mary Barnhardt.
