Leroy Beldin, 70, of Silvis, IL, died Monday, August 31, 2009, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center in Rock Island, IL. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, is handling the arrangements. A graveside memorial service, with Military Rites, will be held Friday, September 4th, at 1:00 p.m., in the Veterans' Section of Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Leroy E. Beldin was born in Prophetstown, IL, on January 10, 1939, to Phillip and Winnie (Pike) Beldin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an iron worker, and was employed out of the Local 63 Union Hall in the Chicago area for 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Moline and enjoyed flying airplanes, playing the guitar, and tinkering with his invention. Survivors include, his sisters: Jenny Sellers of Moline, Marcella Sellers of Crystal River, FL, and Delores Hill of Vero Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
