In the early morning light of December 21, 2024, Kathryn Louise Slover Nelson departed this earthly realm. Kathryn, affectionately known to us as Kay, at the age of 88, left us to reside in the Lord's magnificent mansion prepared just for her.
Born on September 19, 1936, to John and Margaret Slover of Silvis, Illinois, Kay was a beacon of love and generosity from the start. With her faith as her compass, she navigated life's trials and triumphs with a grace that inspired us all.
In a blessed union, Kay shared her life with her devoted husband, Larry Lewis Nelson. Together, they cultivated a garden of love that flourished through seasons of joy and hardship. Their legacy of love lives on through their children, William John Nelson and Dee Anna Sinclair, who carry within them the strength and tenderness of their mother's spirit.
She is survived by her husband Larry, son Bill (Kitty), daughter Dee Anna (David), and her brother John Slover Jr, (Diane), her grandchildren, Christopher, Lindsey, and Nichole, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Today, we do not say goodbye to Kay; we say, "until we meet again." Let us carry her memory with us, living each day with the same kindness, grace, and love that she embodied. And so, with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with her, we celebrate Kathryn Louise Slover Nelson—a life beautifully lived, a soul forever cherished.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 24, at 11 am with a visitation before the service from 9 am until 11 am, at Christ Anglican Church, 1717 8th Avenue, Moline. Interment will follow at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
