Kathryn Dunker, 51, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, IL, after losing her battle with stage IV lung cancer, diagnosed in February of 2010. Visitation will be Sunday, November 13th, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Monday, November 14th, at 10:30 a.m., at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 - 16th Street, Moline. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to CaringBridge.org, or to Riverside United Methodist Church. Kathryn L. Brown was born in Muscatine, IA, on March 31, 1960, to Lyman DeWayne and Barbara (Perrenoud) Brown. She was a 1978 UTHS graduate, who began working in the trucking industry during her junior year of high school. Her 33-year work career included ANR Freight, Mayfield Transfer, Watkins Motor, and, the past 11 years for PFG (TPC) in Rock Island. She was married for 28 years to Allen Nitz, with whom she raised two daughters. Then, in 2008, she married Mark Dunker, and they began a life of many shared interests and experiences during a short time; two truly became one. In addition to her husband, Mark, she is survived by: daughters, Melinda (Allen) Nitz-Dumolien of Huntington Beach, CA, and Stephanie (Seth Homolka) Nitz of Baldwin City, KS; a sister, Karen Hopkins of East Moline; brothers, Tom (Lela) Brown of Harlan, IA, and Jerry (Melody) Brown of Moline; grandson, Brayden, born 10-17-2011; and a special aunt, Bev (Hubert) McElhinney of Crawfordsville, IA. She was also blessed with many other loving family members and friends, too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her parents.
