Kathleen Ann Schomer

Kathleen A Schomer, 75, of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. Visitation will be Friday, January 3rd, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Saturday, January 4th, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Pius Catholic Church in Rock Island, IL. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Estates Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary. Kathleen Ann Schomer was born June 23, 1938, in Rock Island, IL, to Thomas and Mary (Majorski) Welch. On January 10, 1959, in Rock Island, she married Emery Schomer, who survives. She was a graduate of Alleman High School Class of 1956. She worked at Royal Neighbors of America for thirty years, retiring in 1993. When she was younger, she was employed by Eastern Airlines, and worked for WWI Ace Eddie Rickenbacker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was a past-president of the Moline Jaycettes, and was a member of the 40 & 8 Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, and telling jokes, especially bad ones, and had an extensive collection of Mickey Mouse and Santa Claus memorabilia. In addition to her husband, Emery, survivors include, daughters: Rosetta (Curtis) Whitten of Moline, and Rhonda Westmorland of Milan, IL; siblings: Thomas Welsh of Moline, Jean Romans of Rock Island, Janice Winger of East Moline, Dianne Miller of Reynolds, IL, and Dan Welsh of East Moline; grandchildren: Julie Whitten, Curtis R. Whitten, Steaphanie Smith, James Westmorland, Jessica Smith, and Jerrica Westmorland; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Paul and Elizabeth.
