Katherine V Boyum

Katherine “Bear” Boyum, 89, of Coal Valley, IL, died Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Oak Glen Home in Coal Valley. As per her wishes, cremation has been accorded. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, IL. Katherine V. Knutson was born in Slayton, MN on June 3, 1919, to Joseph Axel and Anna Marie (Johnson) Knutson. She married Obid Boyum, who preceded her in death in March of 1971. She was a long-time resident of the Quad City Towers in East Moline. “Bear” was an avid sports enthusiast, especially enjoying the Cubs and the Bears. Survivors include her son, Robert (Roxanne) Boyum, of Coal Valley; three grandchildren: Christopher of Coal Valley, Jeff of Dallas, TX, and Katrina of Waco, TX; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerome, in February of 2004.
