Karna E Danielson

Karna Danielson, 83, of Moline, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, September 20th, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Monday, September 21st, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Moline Preservation Society, the Children's Heart Association, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Karna E. Ekstadt was born in Gary, IN, on August 27, 1926, to J. Edward and Hilma (Swanson) Ekstadt. On September 11, 1949, in Moline, she married O. LeRoy Danielson, who preceded her in death on May 2, 1988. She had been employed at John Deere Plow/Planter, Petersen Harned Von Maur, Teskes Pet & Garden Center, the Garden Cottage, and was owner/operator of The Sun Room, and then, The Cat & The Fiddle in Moline. She was a very involved member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, was an MHS Class of '44 Committee Member, a member of the Rock Island County Historical Society, the Moline Preservation Society, Questors, the Moline Horticultural Society, and the Rock Island County Humane Society. She was an avid Cub fan, enjoyed gardening, antiquing, social events, and, most of all loved being with her family and friends. Survivors include: five daughters and one son: Lisa (Bob) Brathall of Port Byron, IL, Krista Johnson of East Moline, Charlotte (Tim) Rynott of Durango, CO, Julia (Mark) Griffin of Moline, Ingrid (Tony) Dhooge of Moline, and Erick Danielson (Lynn Dietz) of Moline; a sister: Gladys Leach of Wickenburg, AZ; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many special nephews and nieces; and nine "adopted" daughters. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
