Karen Elizabeth Fraser, 76, formerly of the Quad Cities, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at her home in West Liberty, Iowa, surrounded by family.
Born on May 18, 1948, in Georgia and raised in Illinois, Karen graduated from Moline High School in 1966. Her life was characterized by love, family, and dedication to her faith. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother.
Karen devoted her life to nurturing her three children, whom she loved deeply. She also spent significant time and affection raising her oldest granddaughter, Amber Adams.
She is survived by her granddaughter/caregiver, Amber (Barry) Adams of West Liberty, and her children: Shelly Reed of Moline, Brian (Debbie) Swanson of Milan, Kim (Chris) Gibson of Milan, and Michelle (Bill) Murray. Karen cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially in her later years after moving to West Liberty to be closer to her great-grandsons.
Karen was passionate about creativity and community. She often participated in craft fairs and enjoyed the Spoon River Drive. Her spirit was deeply connected to her faith, and she attended The Moline Gospel Temple and later Bethany Baptist Church during her time in the Quad Cities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gladys Moore; her husband, Daniel Fraser; and her son, Shawn Swanson.
As her family reflects on her life, they will remember her warmth, kindness, and the unwavering love she shared with them. Karen's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all fortunate to know her.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with a visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL.
