Justine Marie Lathrop

Justine M. Lathrop, 88, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Private family services will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home of Moline, IL Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C Cook Hospice House, or to the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Southpark Presbyterian Church of Rock Island, IL. Justine Pinger was born in Keithsburg, IL, on July 5, 1922, to Peter John and Justina Anna (Lukas) Pinger. On February 27, 1950, in Rock Island, IL, she married William Lathrop, who preceded her in death January 19, 1989. She attended the Keithsburg schools, and worked for Stewart Pharmacy of Davenport, IA. She was a member of the Star of the East in Bettendorf, the Mohasson Caldron in Davenport, was a Past Matron of Amaranth. She also worked in housekeeping at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Moline. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Survivors include her daughter: Jayme (Graham) Mongeon of Virginia; two brothers: Bernard Pinger of Michigan, and William Pinger of Keithsburg, IL.; and a very dear friend: Lin Mulkey of Bettendorf. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son: William Branch, a sister: Opal Pinger, and brothers: Jerome Pinger, and Virgil "Bee" Pinger.
