Julia Jane Glockhoff passed away on May 30, 2024. Funeral arrangements are Monday, June 10, at Wendt Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00, and the funeral will be at 1:00. Inurnment will follow at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.
Julia was born February 20, 1956, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Roy and Mary Glockhoff. Julia attended East Moline schools and graduated from UTHS in 1974. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in East Moline.
Julia worked many years at the Rock Island Arsenal mailroom in a program through ARC. After that, she had several jobs at ARC Industries.
Julia's interests were reading, BINGO, watching the Cubs, talking, and socializing. She loved her family and enjoyed all the holidays. She always remembered everyone's birthday. Before cable TV, she knew the entire TV Guide for any day, time, or channel. She also knew the Metrolink Bus routes and every driver.
Julia and her mother were very close. They went on many adventures together. She especially loved her "slightly older sister" Gail, and her
"slightly younger baby sister," Joanna said.
Julia lived at Heritage Woods and earlier at Friendship Manor, where she was a favorite of the nurse's aides. She was a sweet person who loved talking to everyone - a lot!
Julia's family are Joanna (Brad) Dye; Gail (Jamie) Glockhoff Long; Gary (Kristin) Glockhoff; and Carolyn (Mike Dick) Glockhoff. Her family includes nieces Naomi Ballard and Elizabeth Tesar, as well as nephews Jared and Derek Dye. She had five great-nieces and one great-nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul, and niece Ivy.
The family would like to thank Julia's caretakers at Heritage Woods and Friendship Manor and her medical teams at Genesis Illini, OSF Rockford, and Rush Chicago for their excellent and loving care.
Memorials may be directed to Illini Hospital at the Genesis Health Services Foundation, 2035 Bridge Avenue, Davenport, IA 52803, or Https://www.genesisheaIth.com/giving/. Those attending the visitation may also bring a small BINGO prize to be donated to Heritage Woods.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on her Tribute Wall at wendtfuneralhome.com.
