Julia F. Sandefur, age 83, of Moline, IL, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center's garden area. Julia F. Woollums was born September 29, 1926, in Tingley, IA, to Floyd and Blanche (Vance) Woollums. She married Delbert C. Sandefur in Creston, IA, on December 14, 1947, and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1990. Julia was a homemaker. During high school, she worked as a cashier at a small grocery store, where she met her husband, Delbert. She was a devoted wife and mother, staying home to care for her family, and was a good cook and housekeeper. She also volunteered in the P.T.A. After Delbert's death, Julia joined a grief support group at the hospital, thoughtfully sending greeting cards to others experiencing happy or sad times in their lives. She enjoyed reading, listening to country & western music, watching detective stories and Johnnie Carson on television, and spending time with her friends. She was a thoughtful, loving person who always had a smile on her face. Survivors include: her son: Larry Sandefur of Moline; her daughter: Linda Emmons and her fiance, Charlie Perkins of Kissimmee, FL; her brother, Avery (Alice) Woollums of Colorado Springs, CO; and two grandsons: Jeremiah Liedtke and Joshua (Ashley) Liedtke. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister: Fern Jeanes, and a brother-in-law, Bobby Jeanes.
