Judy Kay St. Clair, affectionately known as "Mamma Hank", passed away at the age of 74 on November 25, 2023. Born in Rock Island, IL, on August 25, 1949, to John and Matilda (Brooks) Schomer, she remained a lifelong city resident.
Judy graduated from Rock Island High School in the class of 1967. She was a woman of faith and found a spiritual home at the Salvation Army Church, where she attended. On June 15, 1968, Judy married her loving husband, Hank St. Clair, in Rock Island, with the ceremony conducted at the Salvation Army Church.
Their union was blessed with six children: Donna St. Clair, Rock Island; Debra (Kenny) Percifield, Leon, IA; Denise (Ben) Hileman, Rock Island; Dana (Joe) Dominguez, Rock Island; Deanna (Glenn) Fleuter, Rock Island, and Martin Jr. (Ashley) St. Clair, Rock Island. Judy was also the proud grandmother to twenty-one grandchildren, each of whom she cherished.
Judy is survived by her siblings, Joyce (Gary) Termple of Rock Island, Cindy (Dwayne) Prior of Minneapolis, MN, Mike Schomer of Moline, and Jack (Kathy) Schomer of Muscatine, IA. Her sisters, Barb, Evelyn, and Bonnie, preceded her in death, as did her brothers, Johnny and Bob. Judy's family was her world, and she instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of love, kindness, and respect for others. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mama Hank was a woman of many interests and passions. She was an ardent Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed playing darts and bowling. She found joy in crafting and art, often crocheting items for her family. She was also a huge NASCAR fan and loved following the Earnhardt Boys. Judy had a special fondness for pigs and Tweety Bird, and she was known for riding her scooter around town, spreading joy wherever she went.
Judy was a loving, friendly, and creative soul whose light touched everyone she met. She was known for her warm and welcoming nature, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Her creative spirit was evident in the crafts she made for her family, each piece a testament to her love and dedication to them.
Judy Kay St. Clair, or Mama Hank as she was lovingly called, will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and those fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, friendship, and creativity will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the UnityPoint Hospice staff for taking good care of "Mamma Hank."
