Judith A. Pikuza

January 15, 1941 — January 20, 2024

Judith "Judy" Pikuza, surrounded by the love of her family, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Born on January 15, 1941, in Moline, to the late Alexander and Nanette (High) Scott, Judy's life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and unconditional love.

Judy was a lifelong resident of Moline, where she graduated from Moline High School. There, she met the love of her life, Alexander A. Pikuza. The high school sweethearts married on January 4, 1958, and embarked on a journey of love and partnership that lasted nearly six decades until Alexander's passing in 2017. She was a devoted wife; their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment and affection.

Together, Judy and Alex raised a vibrant family, instilling values of compassion and togetherness in their children. Judy was a loving mother to her daughters, Terry (John) Royal, Lake of the Ozarks, MO; Tamara (Dan) Mount, Sherrard, IL, and Rebecca (Dan) Rumler, Moline, IL; and her sons, Edgar (Sheri) Pikuza, Moline, and Alex (Michael Simpson) Pikuza, Santa Fe, NM. She took immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Bryn, Michael, Joe, Beth, Paul, Daniel, Mary, Brandon, James, Jordan, Jenielle, Austin, Erin, Kendall, Hanna, Becca, and Molly. Her great-grandchildren, Bear, Owen, Emma, Zoe, Sophie, Levi, Ruby, James, Liam, Elliana, Beau, Marley, Marianna, Chris, Cayson, and Gracie, also held a special place in her heart. Judy's siblings, Marilyn Eberhardt, John Scott, and Jim Scott, preceded her in death.

Known for her loving and friendly nature, Judy found joy in simple pleasures. She was a remarkable cook, often found in the kitchen preparing meals that brought her family together around the table, and she had a talent for baking cakes for family and friends' special occasions. Her recipes and talents blended tradition and love, and she found satisfaction in the smiles and laughter accompanying every shared dish. Judy's love for cooking and baking was only surpassed by the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, each of whom she loved uniquely and deeply.

Judy's kindness extended beyond her family. She was a friend to many, known for her ability to listen and her willingness to lend a helping hand. Her friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure in her community, serving as a Girl Scout district leader for many years. Her absence will be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As we say goodbye to Judith Pikuza, we celebrate a life well-lived, a family well-loved, and a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire. Judy's warm spirit and the memories she created will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Judy's family will hold a visitation and memorial service followed by celebration of life luncheon at Moline Bethel Wesley Methodist Church on Saturday, January 27, 2023 with visitation from 10 am until 11 am, with the funeral service starting at 11 am. A celebration of life luncheon will be immediately following the service in the activity center of the church, to honor her memory and the impact she has left on their lives. The inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, IL.

Judy's journey through life reflected the best of us - loving, kind, and friendly. She was a guiding light to her family, a steadfast friend, and a nurturing presence to all. As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of the beauty of a life dedicated to love and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her.
