Joyce Ellen Bentler

Joyce Ellen Bentler, of Moline, IL, entered into eternal life on Friday, November 25, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, following a brief illness. A Memorial Visitation for both Allen (died 1/30/12) and Joyce, will be held on Saturday, February 4th, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Joyce was born February 4, 1934, to Fern (Tower) Waller and Bert Waller, in Mendota, IL. She married Allen Bentler on August 15, 1958 in East Moline, IL. Throughout her life, she was a very accomplished person. During her grade school years, she lived in Rock Island, IL, while her father worked at the Arsenal during the war. After returning to Mendota, Joyce was very active in school, playing in the marching band as well as singing in choir. Upon graduating high school, she attended L.P.O. College in LaSalle, IL, and then graduated from Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL, where she earned her teaching degree. She was a teacher for over fifty years, lastly working as a substitute at Bettendorf High School in Iowa. Joyce will be sadly missed. She and Allen always were on-the-go, taking rides almost daily and going to the casino. She is survived by her husband Allen, her daughter Deborah, grandchildren Ashley and Brandon, and many cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, son-in-law Paul L. Smith, and her two dogs, Panda and Lassie. Joyce will always live in eternal life and in our hearts. I miss you, Mom. A thanks to Dr. Wallner, Dr. Patrick Cunningham, and to her special friend, Mildred, who could always make her smile.
