Josh's school journey began at Roosevelt Elementary, continued through Willson Jr. High, and culminated at Sherrard High School, where he excelled in basketball and football. His love for sports was evident from an early age, and he was known for always getting along with his coaches and teammates. In 1996, Josh enlisted in the US Navy through the Buddy Program with his best friend Cooper, an adventure that took him to basic training at Great Lakes, IL. He then was trained at Millington, TN, and later in Miramar, CA, where his time in the service was marked by dedication and hard work, particularly with electronics for F-18 Hornets at NAS Cecil Field. While deployed aboard the USS Eisenhower, his son Bailey was born. He was soon transferred to NAS Oceana, VA, where he served the remainder of his enlistment.
Moving back to Moline in 2000, Josh honored his family legacy by becoming one of the finest Tinners and HVAC Technicians in the QC Area. He was a master of his craft, and his workmanship was second to none. This dedication to his work was further demonstrated when he opened The Sneaker Vault in 2020, where he became a well-known figure in the Shoe and Vintage Clothing Community. In 2021, he embarked on a new venture, Olde Town Heating, Air, and Duct Cleaning Services. Josh was incredibly proud of the family business he created, working alongside his mom and two brothers. His commitment to his community was also evident in his service in various roles for many youth sports teams and leagues and he was a proud member of Local 91.
Josh's heart, however, belonged to his family. He married the love of his life, Tiffany Johnson, on April 11, 1997, and they were blessed with two sons, Bailey and Brody. Josh dedicated his life to supporting his boys in their sports endeavors, coaching them and countless other young men in the QC area. He cherished every journey across the US for his sons' games and celebrated their successes with immense pride.
Josh is survived by his wife, Tiffany, and sons Bailey (Brooke Nelson) and Brody (Zoe McKinney); mother and step-father Joni Basala and Alberto Favela; father and step-mother Rian and Denise Basala; brothers Gabe Favela (Amanda Marshall), Seth Basala, Adam (Jessica) Basala, and Brandon (Amanda) Mrazek, step-siblings Adan Favela, Raul Favela, and Iceis Sindt, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His many nieces and nephews, who adored him dearly, will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
