Josephine "Joy" Clayton passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, in her hometown of Moline, IL, with her husband by her side.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM, with a visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, prior to the service at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL.

Josephine was born on December 26, 1936 in Moline, IL, to parents Lynn and Marian (Doig) Haney.

Joy, a graduate of Moline High School, worked as a secretary at a law office for a short time before shifting her focus to her most cherished role as a housewife. She poured her love and attention into creating a nurturing home for her children and husband, demonstrating a level of devotion that was truly remarkable. Her family was her pride and joy, and she devoted herself to their wellbeing with unwavering commitment.

She married the love of her life, Delbert Clayton, and they built a family grounded in love and mutual respect. Their children, Kathleen (Doug) Roberts, Susan Lowe, and Michael (Julie) Clayton, were raised in a home filled with laughter and encouragement, a testament to Joy's nurturing spirit. Joy's legacy continued to flourish through her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who carry on her love and values, bringing her immeasurable happiness.

Preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Phyllis Davis and Robert Haney, Joy's memory will live on through the lives of those she touched. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the impact of her love and kindness will continue to resonate.
