Joseph Leland Sesbeau 88 of Bettendorf, beloved son brother, husband and father , passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec.29,2014 surrounded by family. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 23 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. 4097 18th St., Bettendorf. Memorial mass to follow at 10. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Mary; his brother, John, Albuquerque NM; six children, Jo Ann Curran(Michael), Littleton Colo., Marta Hershner (Stephen), Cedar Rapids Ia. Karen Sesbeau, Plymouth, Minn; John of Davenport and Mark (Tina, Hudson of Wis. Dawn Hoeft (Tim) Burnsville, Minn. and 5 grandchildren, Alex, Katherine, Meredith, Hillary, and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite and Thomas E. Sesbeau. Memorials May directed to the family. Joe was born March 29 1926 in Lawler , Iowa. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1944 and St. Ambrose College in 1947 He served in the U.S. Naval Flight training in Great Sakes, Illinois. On Jan 31 1953 he married Anna Sheridan at Cathedral in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1947 he began a long career teaching and coaching at Geneseo, then at Dawling High School , Des Moines then Bettendorf High. He coached Boys varsity basketball at Dawling High and coached the teem that won the state championship title in 1957 he and his family moved to Bettendorf where he taught math and drivers'ed and coached boys baseball and basketball until his retirement in 1994 he was an avid sports fan and athlete .In his younger years he was a Golden Gloves champion.
