Joseph Keith Daebelliehn, 80, of Moline, passed away Jan. 14, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, after a short illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, Silvis. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 246, Moline. Visitation will be at 3-6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Children’s Therapy Center in Moline, Calvary Lutheran Church Endowment Fund in Moline, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a favorite charity. Joe was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Moline, the son of Frank and Norma Daebelliehn. He graduated from Moline High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson on Aug. 25, 1951, in Moline. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He was a drill sergeant at Fort Leonardwood, Mo. He went to work for Illinois Bell in 1953, retiring after 38 years as an engineer. He worked part-time for Reynolds (Ill.) Telephone Co. He was a member of Telecom Pioneers, working with its Talking Books. He was a member of American Legion Post 246, serving on its Honor Guard. He volunteered for many years with his brother Rod at the John Deere Classic. Joe was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; sons, Joseph W., Moline, and Tim R., Peoria; and daughter Wendy (Mark) Wilson, Maryland Heights, Mo.; five grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Michael Wilson, and Zachary and Sawyer Daebelliehn; brothers, John Daebelliehn, Austin, Texas, and Rod Daebelliehn, Tipton, Iowa; sisters, Helen Gillette and Linda Markwood, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a very special sister, Beverly Daebelliehn.
