Jorge was born August 15, 1942, in Rosario, Argentina. He graduated there from technical school, and was an accomplished violinist. He came to the United States in 1965, and married Mary Jane Hawks on May 4, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Jorge became a United States citizen in October of 1974. Jorge worked at the Silvis Railroad Yards for 44 years, working for the Rock Island Lines from 1968 to 1980, Chrome Locomotive from 1980 to 1990, and National Railway Equipment from 1990 to present. He graciously volunteered his time in the community, at one time serving as Technical Director for Playcrafters Barn Theater. He was one of the first coaches and board members of the Moline Soccer Club. Soccer was one of his greatest passions. He played, coached, and watch all his life, playing the game well into his forties. Jorge coached men, women, and children, being most proud of serving as the first men's soccer coach for St. Ambrose University from 1989 to 1991. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Jane, Moline; daughter Angela Giannetti-Snyder of Sabula, IA; grandchildren Logan Lauterbach of Graceland University in Lamoni, IA, and Colton and Haley Snyder of Sabula, IA; brothers Ricardo (Rosa) Giannetti of Loma Linda, CA, and Hector (Martha) Giannetti of Anaheim, CA; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his devoted pet and companion, Apollo.
