John W Flowers

John W. Flowers, 79, of Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at UnityPoint West in Rock Island, IL. Services will be held Monday, March 18 th , at 12 Noon, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. John was born March 7, 1940, in Eupora, MS, to L.J. and Earlean (Davis) Flowers. On May 1, 1997, in Rock Island, he married Jill Harvey, who survives. John retired, after 18 years, from Rhythm City Casino.  Prior to that, he worked at Frank’s Foundry and the former Moline Consumers.  He enjoyed Blues and Old Gospel music, as well as antique cars, vegetable gardening, boating, and fishing. In addition to his wife, Jill, survivors include daughters, Sara Flowers of Moline, and Neris Flowers of Texas; sons, Gabe Flowers of Moline, and Wade (Amanda) Hansen of Colona, IL; sisters, Shirley Flowers of Moline and Rudell Walker of Detroit, MI; brothers, John (Joyce) Pittman of East Moline, James Pittman of St. Louis, MO, and Green Pittman of East Moline; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a few close special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a grandchild, two sisters, and a brother.
